Who art Thou, O God?
When I look at all Thou hast made,
The earth, the sky, the sea and all that is therein.
When I gaze at the stars, in the silence of the night,
I can’t help but ponder the deeper questions about life.
Man is but a vapor, here today, gone tomorrow,
Yet why would You go out of Your way to put us here?
Who art Thou O God? And, who am I O LORD?
There has to be more to life than just what I see,
Surely, the meaning of life has to be found somewhere outside of me.
They say follow the way of your heart, but can’t tell me what my heart is,
They say it’s unwise not to invest in your future years. How much more then, not to invest in the life after this one?
How is it that a man can consume so much liquor, accumulate so much wealth, be filled with so much knowledge, yet still be empty?
How is it that even with all the seeing of the eye, hearing of the ear, feeding of the belly, yet a man shall not be content?
Surely, there’s more to youth than the status quo,
For I see so many say that they’re chasing a goal, yet don’t know why or where they’re running to.
Who art Thou O God? And, who am I O LORD?
Then the word of the LORD came unto me saying,
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee.
I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside Me: I girded thee, though thou didst not know Me,
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
And you shall seek Me, and find Me, when you shall search for Me with all your heart,
I would not tell you to seek Me, if I could not be found.
My word is a lamp unto your feet, and a light unto your path,
I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Don’t you know that a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things he possesses?
It is he who has Me that has Life,
And he who loses his life for My sake shall find it, but he who hangs onto his life for his will lose it.
O LORD, I know that a man’s life is not his own, it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps,
Therefore Thy word will I lay up in my heart, my way do I commit unto Thee, in You have I put my trust.
That Thou mayest show me the path of life,
For Thou, O most upright One, do make smooth the path of the just.
Now I know that purpose is found in knowing You,
For when I find You, then will I find myself.
Therefore, I count all things loss, that I might gain You,
For what would it have profited me, if I had gained the whole world, yet lost my own soul.
Thank You Jesus, Amen.
